From an email that hit my Inbox this afternoon:

"a better vintage than all the best years in Montalcino so far...a new benchmark...a modern 1997... -- James Suckling

[about the 2006 vintage]

Man, this guy just cracks me up.

I broad tasting of 2006 Brunellos this afternoon was pretty hum drum, dashing some early excitement I had based on a couple of superb releases that also happened to be 2006s.

The 2006 Brunellos seem to be characterized by a rich, round mouthfeel with little lift, and not much in the way of aromatic fireworks.

Definitely no need to rush out and experiment on new producers you haven't been happy with in previous years.

Most interesting, Levi. All snark aside, I am still quite leery of Brunellos for several reasons, but I've been very happy with the few '06 Tuscans I've tried so far.
