98 Hureau SC Cuvee Lisagathe

Had not had this wine before and I liked it a lot. Sophisticated. Definite SC profile; in fact based on my limited recent experience with them I would have ventured, "Rougeard". In fact, better than the 98 Rougeard Poyeaux I had a month or two ago. Earth, leaf, dark fruit, briar, dark chocolate, minerals, slightly leathery, w/o the bell pepper. Cool toned yet rich at the same time. Had a vibrancy and energy that put it into that upper tier of wine for me.

Nice to hear this. A bottle of the 2005 I brought to an offline was received with consternation in some quarters. It was very young, but I'm optimistic.
