2005 Les Crêtes Syrah Coteau La Tour - Italy, Valle d'Aosta (3/14/2011)

Much better showing having stood it up beforehand and decanted. Would have been even better if I gave it more time in the decanter. Still, this is terrific. A very impressive producer.

1993 Domaine des Comtes Lafon Volnay 1er Cru Clos des Chênes - France, Burgundy, Côte de Beaune, Volnay 1er Cru (3/13/2011)

Opens dense and very tight with imposing concentration. After 1.5hrs in the decanter, wow. Lovely.

2007 Bünchen Riesling Spätlese - Germany, Mosel Saar Ruwer (3/12/2011)

Okay, but not worth the effort. No quibbling with the value, however.

2005 Weingut Ökonomierat Rebholz Muskateller Spätlese - Germany, Pfalz (3/6/2011)

That is some serious grapefruit. Intense, like a blend of Gewurz and Scheurebe. Nice stuff; we liked it.

2008 Domaine Poulleau Père & Fils Côte de Beaune Les Mondes Rondes - France, Burgundy, Côte de Beaune (3/5/2011)

Had these in the past month or so and forgot to mark them from inventory. Wow is right. This stands head and shoulders above anything remotely close to its price: real Burgundy for under $14? Modest and a little simple? Sure. A little rustic? You bet. But it is authentic.
