Questions, questions...

Does anyone know why Foillard Fleurie comes into (the US at least) as his highest priced cuvee? I seldom like it best.

Does anyone know what is up with 2009 Closel Jalousie? The wine in a recent visit is remarkably shut down. Closed. Not at home. Reticent to the point of silence.... Which is a little weird. The vintage, the site, I would have figured on more. Anyone visited lately?

The frustrating note on the Closel is that the bottle has an agglomerate cork that makes me nervous about throwing bottles in the cellar to recover from whatever ails them.

Answers, anyone?

Is this bottling relatively dry?
If so, no surprise that it's shut down in a high alcohol vintage like 09; if it wasn't, it would probably be out of balance at this point.
Especially from that terroir.

Yes.

You figure?

I don't recall ripe vintages like 2002 or even 2003 or 2005 being this closed. I wonder whether my bottle is representative.

Hmmmm.

Didn't notice the cork, interesting.

Was fine a few months ago in situ.

What were you expecting from a no-malo, dry Savennieres barely one year after bottling? Glee Season 2?

Perhaps rarity. I think F has fewer hectares of it.

Anyway, does KL lurk here? If so, he might say.

Ha!

Last October we tasted 09 Jalousie at the winery and it wasn't closed, but then again the bottle had already been open for three days:

2009 La Jalousie Savennières Blanc Sec
From schist, bottled 15 days before. Fennel and white flowers; fruity, balanced, simple and attractive.

I've generally stayed away from 2003 (except on the very sweet end) to a point of having no opinion there. But 02 and 05 are miles and miles away from 09 for me, in this context. Not based on any technical data, just the early tasting experience.
