09 Foillard CdP

OK, a shitty day required extra therapy and Foillard was calling to us. I've been down on this bottle, but wow, this was beautiful. Everything I look for in a Foillard. Not shut down. Just drop dead gorgeous. Maybe a tad darker on the fruit spectrum than other versions, but, really, this had it all: the perfume in particular, the velvet texture, the layers. Glad I had this last one at home.

edited to add: cosmic forces must be trying to make up for yesterday's corked 2004 Briords. I don't know if this quite does it, but it's a nice start.

Nice to hear some positive words on this. I had about 4 or 5 back in the fall and loved every one of them. I'm not a huge lover of huge fruit but I never got the 'oversized' aspect that people have been complaining about.

I only have 2 or 3 of my own bottles left. Will probably wait a bit longer.

I was one of the complainers. Oversized isn't quite what bothered me but ripeness was. My first few bottles managed to be both very ripe and veering towards black fruits and plums and medium bodied at the same time. The fruit was too intense for me. But not this time; this was just right.
