CWD: '04 Macle Ctes du Jura

2004 Domaine Macle Ctes du Jura, Alc 13%: the most funky and alcoholic nose I have ever seen (smelled?)..clearly an oxidized style wine with walnuts, honeysuckle blossoms and a vague earthiness...much more "normal" on the palate with a rich honey-ed type of flavor with walnut, caramel and almost a squash taste (bizarre!)... in an odd way, this is a very compelling but weird wine... wish I had some Epoisses or a bold blue cheese to match with it...

Not a wine for the faint of heart

Doc, see if you can leave some of the rest closed up in the fridge for a good five days or so, and check in on it then. Had a similar experience with 2000 Montbourgeau Cuve Spciale and it really turned the corner once it had been open for a week. Was transformed from a disjointed alcoholic minty green walnut beverage into something like a baby Vin Jaune, with unreal length.

2/3 of the bottle is left.. I'll let it rest for several days
Not sure about the blend..it is listed as "chardonnay and savagnin" but the % are not given

Revisited after 6 days..
Sherry and liquified nuts on the nose...more sweet and rich on the palate..most of the bitterness is gone... still a hint of quinine on the finish... much more enjoyable..
Slaton, thanks for the tip
