Pure vintage from 1900. This is from the rare Malvasia di Sitges-variety. These wines from Sitges had more fame a hundred years. Today the wines are mostly overlooked and there is little left grown. The yearly production in the Sitges DO is around 4500 bottles. As I understand some vines are under protection of the Slow food foundation for biodiversity. Hopefully there will be a return and more people will be appreciating these wines. This wine had a brown colour. Fantastic nose. Dust, old closet, some orange-peel, dried fruits. Very complex. Powerful and oily wine in the mouth. Creamy and lots of fruit. Very sweet style, but some of the sweetness has disappeared. Very complex and lightly oxidative style. Old dust, some nuts, caramel. Typical orange-peel, citrus and spice-notes of the Malvasia. Fine acidity. Quite high alcohol on the finish. Neverending taste. Tremendous quality. This will last another 100 years.
