'09 De Villaine Rully Les St. Jacques

Lemony with tropical fruit overtones (a sign of the year?) and a hint of minerality. Oak was barely visible in this well-balanced bargain off the wine list at Orchid's in Waikiki. Great pairing with my umami-laced Onaga and Jean's Opah.

I didn't realize Villaine used oak for the St. Jacques and Clous. We've been enjoying the 08, which I'd imagine to be leaner - no tropical fruit, to be sure.

I ran across a Villaine case insert by accident recently, which recommended drinking this wine young for its freshness, while cellaring the Clous. Hence our raids on the 08 now.
