Schnook reviews the new current releases of a compatriot

Warren Leonard
2010 Michel Gahier Trousseau Arbois Grands Vergers - France, Jura, Arbois (2/24/2012)

Awesome wine that is drinking extremely well now but with a few years in the bottle this will be amazing. Super clean fruit that has precession, depth but ultimately elegance. Nice lithe profile that buzzes on the palate and ends with in my opinion the a near perfect blend of mineral and acidity. Jura wines aren't just for geeks and this proves that point.

2009 Jacques Puffeney Poulsard Arbois "M" - France, Jura, Arbois (2/24/2012)

Puffeney's Poulsard M has had three completely different faces for the 2007, 2008 and now 2009 vintage. I really enjoy when a producer embraces the vintage and creates unique wines! The 2009 has the softest fruit of the trio but nicely ripened tannins sit at the bottom of the glass. While this wine is not nearly the same lithe, high wire act of the nervy 2008, its still very pleasurable. I would venture this will change in the bottle but do not think bottle aging will be as necessary as the 2008 vintage.

Wait, who's the schnook? You're French?

Regardless, I saw Chambers just got some of the Puffeney 09 M, I often enjoy that bottling.

Warren works at the Weygandt outlet and is thus a sales schnook. These wines are obviously not Weygandt, thus he reviews the wines of schnook compatriot. So, will these wines be open for tasting at Weygandt on Saturday?

Obviously you have more experience than I do with decoding texts.

Our coworker, Tom Delorme, got these from Chambers early and to curb our jealousy, graciously opened these two bottles. Unfortunately, we will not have these Saturday, they went quick!

***Schnook Alert*** I have been informed that we have acquired a Jura producer who specializes in reds particularly Poulsard, and should be in our retail future.
