I went to a party last night and met a man who knew my father. I had never met him before, my Dad has been dead eight years and he was 84 when he died. He lived his entire life on the east coast.
The man I met was about 50 and lived his entire life on the west coast.
It was 90 degrees outside and I still got chills.
Also had a chance to try the 1993 Laurel Glen, Cabernet Sauvignon, Sonoma Mtn. Reserve from magnum. If I understand correctly, Patrick Campbell only did two reserve wines at LG. It was magnificent; 12.5 alcohol, rich but nuanced, full in the mouth but lightweight and very complex. A really extraordinary old Cabernet and among the best domestics cabs. I have tasted.
Also, the 2009 Rhys, Family Farm was excellent - young but complex even now.
