opened today to show the staff a young burgundy and the effects of decanting. while it will be lovely, it is closed and nowhere near ready to be thinking about. half of the bottle will sit in a decanter overnight. i will report tomorrow.
 
oak has subsided on the nose, even though the fruit, while pretty, is rather thin. in the mouth the tannin is running the game. at this point i would say wait 2 to 3 years.

Very much so, won't even touch these for years let alone village and 1er's
 
i drank an 05 bons batons this past april and it was lovely but, of course, with "bags of life."

An 05 Veroilles drunk this past week as part of an 05 peek was surprisingly accessible (given that it was Barthod and 2005). Decanting helped.

i only have one 05 bons batons left!
 
Somehow I have every vintage from 05 to 09, except 08...22 bottles of 05 left...I think I'll continue to wait :) - thanks for the note.

BTW, I did break open an '09 and found that it reflected the often roasted character of the vintage. Oh well. Can't wait to try the '10.

Anyone tasted the '06 recently? There were some comments that some of Barthod's 2006 wines showed significant rot/goût moisie terreux a few years ago but I am not terribly sensitive to this.
