Spanned the smells of a full meal, meats and dried fruit, savory and sweet, all together, yet distinct. Crazy good. Drinking feels like an afterthought, almost a vulgarity, but the mouth does justice to the leading indicators.

I picked up some wine from Crush. The bag they gave me had my wine in it but someone else's name on the label. Oswaldo Costa.

I took the wine to the cellar. A patron had given them, and they had opened, a bottle of Lopez de Heredia 1991 Rioja Gran Reserva "Tondonia" - exquisite bottle, scents of orange peel, minerals and blood/iron, all gently wrapped in silky muted cranberriness.

[ Our chill friends also opened Dom. Triennes 2009 Vigonier "Saint Fleur", the Seysses/Villaine love-child from Provence. Like Flintstones chewable vitamins but at 14%. ]
