Chateau de Beaucastel Chateauneuf du Pape '99 --
Inky red.
Deep dense bouquet, Asian spices, black fruits, probably some blackpepper, hints of mintiness (?).
More black fruits, plums, resilient profile, firm tannins in abeyance, tightly knit, brawny texture, youthful.
Long flavorful finish. [E+]

Nice complement with lamb/beef kebab, grains & corn, soy beans.

so do you think a magnum would be tight as hell??

Stephen, Yes; however, like many (most?) Rhone wines, this bottling drinks pretty well young and still makes great old bones.

If you have something else suitable to serve, I would say save your Beaucastel '99 for sometime down the road.

While not a big proponent of decanting in general, I suggest that this wine be decanted (even perhaps double decanted).

I started to correct that at the outset but then decided to just see how long it might take for an admonishment to appear.
