NYT article on Sommeliers

Winegrrrrl and SFJoe ordering a non-bubbly, non-oxidative CHARDONNAY? Yeah, and there's a bridge over on the East Side for sale...

(excellent likenesses of those two worthies, though -- well played!)

Mark Lipton

Ick. This worthy would almost have a flashbulb in the face from Brad Kane. I feel the fisheye lens is kind to the room, but not so to certain of the occupants.

+1.

But Patrick gets out all right.

By the bye, great, great article.

And, Mr. Dr. Prof. Lipton, a great '08 Dauvissat Preuses. Just sayin'.

They must have run out of Tribut.

Yeah, not the most complementary of lenses unless you're the Beastie Boys or something. But seriously, it's not that bad. I was also going to say it looks like they put you guys at the 'they're-just-here-for-some-wine' table.

Lars,

That room is the bar. Great spot.

Check out the recesses of the list.
Ha! I guess it IS the just-here-for-some-wine table! I just did a quick glance, but damn is that some list. Saw they have the single vineyard Collins. Just picked up a bottle of the Les Maillons Blanc de Noirs this afternoon.

What a beautiful list.

Yes. Patrick Cappiello is great++++.

He must be great++++ if he can help you and Joe select a Chablis. I understand his probably use to the tourists from Ireland, but, anyone would pick either Raveneau or Dauvissat if they're on the list (Fevre or Brocard if they're not), so where's the need for guidance? It's not like you're trying to ferret out the best Carmenère or Hondarrabi Zuri from 12 pages of the varieties on the list or anything.

-Eden (sometimes it's good to have fallen off the turnip way before anyone else in the room did)
