Overnoy-Crinquand Cremant ?

We've had some posts about the trousseau and the ploussard from this distant cousin of Pierre Overnoy, but I haven't seen any on the Cremant. (Apologies for the missing aigu.)

I opened a bottle when I first took delivery of this -- maybe last November -- and it was unpleasant. Disjointed and stinky in a biologically flawed way. This bottle tonight, only my second, is quite different. Nice mouth feel, good balance of fruit and light touch of minerality. It isn't super clean, and that makes it rich without being at all heavy. Sort of a slightly overripe strawberry and elegant chicken consume thing going on, with some pear skins. I can't tell whether I am enjoying it purely on its own merits or because it is so much better than I expected it to be, based on my prior experience. 11.5% abv is nice too.

I wonder whether the ploussard, which I also found undrinkable, will similarly turn out to be pleasantly surprising.

Kirk, I had a lovely bottle of cremant back in the fall that was much like your second. Cleaner, actually. Variation must run rampant, although I haven't heard about a single drinkable ploussard.

Thanks, John.
