Morgat is apparently a young grower aiming to shake things up a bit in Savennieres. From what I tasted, I think we might see good things from him in the future.
This wine is really delightful at this young age and is a little more "polished" and accessible than others. It offers a nice, typical nose and is just a little woolly and gamey. Lots of pit fruits and deep mineral tones on the palate. Great drive and finishes long. Just a little heat at the back end, but I think that is what you got in '05 if you wanted a fairly dry wine - which this is. Listed at 14.5% I think. I'd have liked it even better with a touch less alcohol, but again, I don't think that was in the cards in '05.
Anyway, my bottle was imported by Jeff Welburn and it is well worth the tarriff. Give it a try if you're so inclined.
