Has anyone tasted the new SP 68 Bianco from Occhipinti? Or the previous vintage for that matter. Thanks in advance. Lou

Lou, a quick search reveals my note from April:

Occhipinti, Sicilia IGT, 'SP68', 2011 (bianco)
I've seen a lot of love for this wine in various forum, and I like what Arianna is doing with this estate, so I wanted to love it a little more than I did. It's a very nice wine, with kiwi and honeycomb and a fragrant nose full of sweet flowers. It ends with a dull metallic finish that I associate with a Southern Rhone marsanne or grenache blanc. A good bistro wine, fun, but not something to lay down and spin hopes for. B+

Well, the SP 68 label is, iirc, for a series of young-vine bottlings of different varieties, red and white. There is also a red SP 68 Nero/Frappato blend. The label denotes wines intended to sell at lower prices than her IGT bottles and for earlier, less-contemplative drinking.

Are you sure you're not referring to the Tami label?

No, I probably muddled them. SP 68 bottles are cheaper and made with younger vines (10 years vs. 35-55), but I think you're right that it's the Tami that are explicitly bistro-ish.

Most great apes can count to three; it seems I lose track at two.
