Has anybody been and can make recommendations for wine and food?

I will be there for a week in June and it seems that there might be interesting things to discover with a little guidance.

Thank you!

I have been to tbilisi. There is a bit of a touristic old town area that has lots of restaurants. They are fine. I'm sure there are places in other parts of town (other than Rustaveli - the main drag) that are better - but I was only there for a few days. The main market tho is really worth a visit. The produce is extraordinary and the types of dairy mind boggling.

Be careful on the metro - its probably changed but back then there weren't so many signs in Latin script.

The best meals I ate in Georgia - and they were really tremendously good - were at homestays in Kutaisi and Borjomi. I visited lots of churches - so should you. Try to do a day trip to Mtskheta - its only about 20k north of town.

You will tire of Khachapuri, and Khinkali are just OK.

9 years ago the wine was not so exciting - lots of semi-sweet things with no acid. I hear things have improved dramatically but I've not yet had anything I thought was really good here in the states.

Sorry I don't have better food recs.
