Enjoying a great glass of Nusserhof Schiava tonight.

I'm not sure what is up, but when you google "schiava" the images that appear are not what I expected.

I figure it has something to do with fb.

never mind. figured it out myself via jules.

it looks like at least some -- if not all -- of the vines are trained in pergola.

how were teh tannins?

fb.

Surprisingly, because they are on record as not being fans of the variety, Hofstatter has turned out some tasty Schiava in the past.

I remember poaching a few cases of the Tiefenbrunner Schiava from a fellow rep's special order to make Andrew smile at Diner back in the day. Tasty stuff and despite pleading from me that we should order it regularly as it was precisely what a lot of folks in Brooklyn were looking for back in '05, my higher ups at the time at Winebow refused to bring it in other than for the odd, large quantity btg special order.

Mayr seems to have the pony generally of late, across varieties. Recent bottles I have drunk have been superb, seemingly reflecting a good outlook on life.

Schiava-labeled wines always send a shiver through me before I taste, but sometimes they are not vulgar swill. This one does not surprise me.
