Eli's

Woo woo!

Very much agree. It was even better when Arno T guest poured last winter before RNY opened, for a bit.

For pricing, it does seem a "worth the displacement" kinda joint.

ETA: Good sliders, too.

We had a REALLY good, upscale Chinese restaurant here that employed the same strategy and did great for a fairly long time.

Then when the wine inventory dwindled away, the traffic and thus the viability fell off.

Pricing is strange - 02 groffier haut doix for 525 but 00 dujac clos st denis for 295?

Well, '00 ain't the vintage that '02 is. Still, that pricing works for me!

"Domaine Aux Moines Savennieres Roche Aux Moines 1994 (Loire Valley, France) $70: This is the cherry vintage to pick from the 1990s at this producer, an old school producer of Chenin Blanc in a they-don't-make-them-like-that-anymore mold."

Can't say I've found anything nice to say about any '94 Chenin I've tried, including this one. But, hey, I'm a slave to vintage charts.

1994 Coulée de Serrant is fantastic now.

How are people feeling about 1994 Foreaus? My daughter's birth year, so I have some laid down...

My experience with the lineup from release hasn't been pleasant. They were dark and oxidative from the get go.
