I tried posting this in Jeebus but it did not work and when I asked a fellow board member about it he mentioned that people don't respond to those anyways so here it is:

I will be in the Durham area and myself, my SO and a fellow wine friend are headed to Rue Cler for the reserve list. We are hoping to order 2004 Baudrys and I will hand carry a 2004 Clos Rougeard "Clos"

If you are interested, let me know as the reservation is for 3 at 7:30 pm

Happy Holidaze!

Shit! I'm in Montuckey. Both 2004 Baudrys should be in stock, they were before I left the 19th. Re-stocked the 2009 CRB Cot.

Shoot Noel an email, he doesn't check the boards a lot.

Damn, sorry to miss you.

I get back into town later that evening, but it sounds like you have everything lined up already. At least wine-wise!

There are only three of us so we are happy to share!

How was it?

I got in late Saturday night but went to Rue Cler tonight for an early dinner with the family. Delicious and a lovely bottle of 2012 Ghostwriter SCM Chardonnay. Wow. Very happy to see wines like that coming out of California!

Rahsaan, I'm glad you had a good meal and really happy you're drinking things like the Ghostwriter. We've really committed to the New CA and I consider Kenny and some of the other guys friends.

And????

If you'd prefer not to answer here, please send me an email.

We had a great meal and it was very nice to meet Will. I also got to put a name to a voice when visiting with Noel earlier in the day. Durham is lucky to have two not only knowledge but genuine merchant and restaurateur respectively.

The food was very well prepared with the scallop from the tasting menu being a highlight. The wines all showed very nicely.

We ended up going with:

Overnoy Arbois Pupillin Chardonnay 2011 (off the list)
This was very fairly priced so we decided to go for it! Nice tart apple notes with a good saline quality on the finish. This was enjoyed early in the evening and again at the end with some nicely selected cheeses.

Bernard Baudry Les Grezeaux 2004 (off the list)
Nice rustic showing of earth, tobacco and gravel. The wine was giving off some secondary notes while still having plenty of tension and structure to last. This wine was thoroughly enjoyed and a nice counter part to the next wine.

Clos Rougeard Clos 2004
The cork was great, no crumbling and I really appreciate the quality this domaine uses because clearly these wines age! This showed beautifully and while it might have been the wine drank side by side with it, showed great elegance and finesse in a cab franc kind of way. There is plenty of up side to this wine but what a wonder to check in on.

A great evening and a nice decompress after the holidaze
