The Rioja: Pretty darn good with some homemade pizzas (mozz, onion, poblano, finocchiona, sopressata, olives). Got that tinge of VA and a tinge of all the classic Rioja aromas. Dusty and muted. Well worth the $9 I paid at the time.
The Chateauneuf: Fully mature, again -- I've made it a project to drink up my remaining bottles over the next year or so. A very good, but not great, Beaucastel. The day-old leftovers tasted like cheap tawny port.
