The IDTT podcast with Michel Lafarge is a beaut. I believe 'old Burgundian dude' is now my favorite French accent.

As to the content -- these podcasts sure do add detail that clears up past confusions. This time around: details on terroir, on estate bottling, on selection, on when sorting tables started, and lots more.

I also enjoyed the comment on the '04 vintage, which I like more and more. (Barthods, Chevillon, Lafarge).

Plus encore!

More "thanks to Levi" for this podcast.

The evening I heard of Michel Lafarge's death I re-listened to this marvelous conversation. Even though I have no French, it was magical to hear Michel Lafarge speak of vintages and friends. I greatly appreciate that the podcast continues to make this possible.

This weekend we made a cassoulet to honor Michel Lafarge's passing and opened a 2005 Beaune-Greves. It was very fragrant, as one would expect from Lafarge, but with more leather than the floral notes I expect from his Volnay bottlings. It tasted somewhat like unwashed cherries picked up from the ground, which I'm hoping sounds like a good thing!
