With salmon
1997 Calera Selleck Vineyard Mt Harlan Pinot Noir, alc 15.3%, $30: Starting to lose the color at the edges...sweet and forest floor notes on the nose.. a seriously intense palate attack with black fruits, a hint of mint and still moderate tannins...opened up nicely over an hour with fresh turned earth and evergreen notes appearing... great with the food.. still a young wine with many years of development ahead of it.. one of the best domestic PN's I have had in a long time
The back label had the most information I have ever seen.... the clones, date of harvest, oak treatment, Brix, vineyard planting statistics, acreage and harvest amount, etc.... A truly geeky back label... not sure it made the wine taste any better but somewhat interesting..
