Barrot, steak, and Hell Boy 1

My brother stayed with us last night. He's a fire fighter over on Bainbridge Island, and he had to get to the airport this morning so he crashed here.

After giving him a glass of the Roty Aligote (cf. above or below), to which he said, "Whoa, I have to adjust to this", we settled down with some ribeyes and a nice bottle of 00 Lucien Barrot CNP, and watched Hell Boy (Hell Boy 2 is better I think).

It's cold as hell here in Seattle, snowing, and it's at times like these that I love a good southern Rhone. For me it's about the equivalent of a good Scotch. I don't think about it all that much, but it makes me happy. I think that's why I like Barrot so much - the style just gives itself over so much to that warming style.

A great eve, topped by me riding around in my tipsy state on the snow and ice showing off my new Schmidt generator hub and Busch and Muller LED headlight on my Rivendell.

Hellboy 2 is much better.

Ron Perlman is one of those actors who isn't very good, but I've always liked him. Ice Pirates and Beauty and the Beast were big influences on my life.

I actually thought HB2 was quite good. For such a blunt object kind of movie, it managed a fair amount of subtlety. Sort of a Janasse VV CNP or old schol VT kind of movie.

Arjun - Ouch! But at least I copped to showing off!
