2000 Beychevelle with dinner and Vilmart Grand Reserve for midnight.

Water for me.

I have a sore throat and stuffy nose and will be getting on a long flight tomorrow. So am trying to rest up, which means this night is like any other.

But, after a long week of Christmas celebrations, frankly I welcome the rest.

Feel better Rahsaan! Best of everything to you all for 2016!

(The '10 Presle was great. And I ended up after that with just a few glasses of la bota amontillado 49, which was awesome. )

I thought I needed a reboot.

It was disgorged in Dec. 2014.

I'll say more about this when I retaste it later today.

2013 Eminence Road "Morehouse Road Vineyard" Cabernet Franc went better with a dish of sautéed snails with spinach, bacon and walnut.

A couple of magnums of 2014 Les Foulards Rouges "Octobre" to go with the cassoulet and in a nod to Lemmy, a bottle of Armand de Brignac Brut Gold "Ace of Spades".

I only open things Kirk would appreciate. Like Godme Extra Brut with a couple of years on it.

Really enjoyed the Laherte "les Clos" bottling on New Year's Eve. I think this is the same wine that is now bottled as "les 7" (reflecting the use of all 7 permitted varieties). It was rich and savory, with the solera character showing in a good way. Stood up to peking duck very well.

Caution, Lemmy, on your way to Alphaville.
