Pepiere 2014 Muscadet "Clos des Briords" - wow, just wow, rich and full without weight, intense, lovely texture, wow

Monchoff 1990 Urziger Wurzgarten Riesling Spatlese - acquired by Jay while acquiring something else but this is marvy: golden, rounded, a little sweet and tangy, lovely

Pavelot 2009 Savigny-les-Beaunes "La Dominode" - big and weighty, not very elegant right now; I mistook it for Bordeaux (yes, it was after lunch)

Magdelaine 1995 St-Emilion - will outlive us all, red-fruity but impossibly youthful and really not yet open for business; I opened this because Jay's off-bottle the other day got me scared about this one

Donnhoff 1998 Oberhauser Brucke Riesling Auslese - I shed a small tear... I wasn't there...

Pepiere 2014 Muscadet "Clos des Briords" - I echo Jeff's wow. It's a wow wine. Wow.

Monchoff 1990 Urziger Wurzgarten Riesling Spatlese - A real beauty. I was nervous about this part of the auction lot as it said SOS but wonderful, lingering, soft complex wine.

Pavelot 2009 Savigny-les-Beaunes "La Dominode" - lovely red fruit, all depth and balance. I guessed Savigny, any recent vintage other than 2009. Definitely not 2009. Pavelot makes beautiful wines.

Magdelaine 1995 St-Emilion - Quite young. Enjoyable now but hold.

Donnhoff 1998 Oberhauser Brucke Riesling Auslese - Still a bit youngish IMO. Rich, sweet, impending complexity. Delicious but needs more time.

It's my favorite Briords since the 2004. And that's taking the amazing 2012 into account.

It counts for a lot. Taste is taste. I know people who, unlike me, preferred the 2002 to the 2004 as well.
 
I opened a 2014 last night, and liked it quite a bit. It seemed to blossom nicely in the glass, but was so appealing that the group killed it in fairly short order, so I didn't get to follow it long enough to reach a fair conclusion as to how it compares to the delightful 2012. I still have plenty of both, so I feel like a winner either way.

There have been threads about this. The general conclusion is that Muscadet needs to be drunk when young, after a few years, and then after a few more years, and perhaps then after many years. One should always have enough to drink it at all these times.
