Two fantastic wines from the past week's tipples:

2012 Peter Lauer Ayler Riesling Fass 6 "Senior"
My first experience with this bottling, and a roaring success it was. What a fantastic expression of dry Riesling! It was lushly fruity (of the stone fruit and citrus varieties) wtih zippy acidity and a fresh, lively finish.

2012 Enderle & Moll Spätburgunder Liaison
I was present at the winery prior to the assembly of this bottling, but this is my first look into the finished product, and what nice look it was. We opened it up last night with a dinner of caneton aux navets a la MFK Fisher. A fascinating expression of Pinot Noir. The wine was smoky, earthy, mineral and sappy, all overlaying a core of fresh red fruit. The purity of the Pinot Noir character stood out for me, reminding me of some of my formative Pinot Noir experiences. Not Burgundian, but neither is it New World. Positively more-ish.
