I've been offered this - explained as a new bottling at Lapierre to supplement for a devastated Morgon crop. Anyone here have more info? Brand new to me...

Lapierre is allocated now? Well, fuck me sideways! What's next? Clos des Briords?

And get off my lawn!

Do you know if it's purchased fruit or if they own the vines? If they own them- for how long and what have they done with the fruit in the past?

I went ahead and ordered some... just curious for more information...

I tried the new wine with Mathieu in January. It was described as grown by a friend with similar philosophies on farming. Single, high altitude parcel, 50-70 year old vines from the Côte de Bessay. Parcel also described as very rocky soils on the border of the Maconnais. Vinified exactly as as the Morgon and only imported into the USA. It was tasted after the Morgon and was slightly darker and slightly more tannic, showing more blue fruits than the Morgon. Still very silky. Really lovely blue and red fruits.

I would definitely try this if you're a fan of Mathieu and Camille.

BTW had this three weeks ago, bottle from Lynch Berkeley shop. Really good, straight out of Marcel's playbook - glad to see Matthieu putting out stuff in a more "traditional" vein, and avoiding some of the naturele excesses that have plagued him recently. A bit blockier and four square than Marcel's Morgon but still quite lovely and elegant. You will enjoy. Matthew's notes sound spot on, though interesting to see the note of same vinification as Morgon -- perhaps Matthieu is setting aside some of his early explorations.
