NWR: Broadway Show Tickets

I'm developing a plan to take my son to see the Lion King for his 16th birthday next year. Last time I was in NY, summer 2016, show ticket prices seemed quite high to my rural hick sensibilities. I'd like to ask the cognoscenti if there a NY-insider pathway to reasonable show ticket purchases.

Muchachimas gracias in advance for any wisdom. Heartfelt sympathy for the attack last week.

Go online and check Todays tix or Goldstar. You can use them for DC as well. The old standby for the day of the show is to go to the Broadway ticket booth. I have no idea what the odds are for the Lion King appearing at any of these places.

I believe "Lion King" is never discounted -- it's Disney, they don't do that, they don't have to. (I have the TKTS app on my phone and it says LK is never there.)

There is a lottery, for what it's worth.

The Lion King just showed up on Todays Tix for around $75, so it will get discounted. But you'll have to wait until pretty close to when you plan to go to see if it's there.

TKTS on Harold Square is probably what you are thinking of. It's a very good deal, but it's only on the day of the show and you absolutely can't go there wanting only one specific show. You have to take what they've got.I

Herald Square. There are add'l booths (South St. Seaport, downtown Brooklyn) that have much shorter lines and basically the same ticket availability.

Discounts range from 50% to 30% depending on the show.

I saw Lion King in NY many years ago. The first ten minutes I was enchanted by the puppetry. Then i couldn’t wait to get out of there.

Next you're going to tell me that there was no Round John Virgin at the nativity and Shirley Mrs. Murphy hasn't been following me all the days of my life.
