2005 Lynmar Pinot Noir RRV
Cherry red in color, with some purple swirls. The nose is candied apple with some cherry cough syrup and root beer. Full bodied. On the palate, this is sweet cough syrup. The first glass wasnt bad (perhaps 88 ponts?) but by the last glass this was so sickly sweet and alcoholic to be almost undrinkable. This wine is so tiring on the palate. I can see how this wine would show well in a tasting as a two ounce pour would stand out. It was $40 Ohio. I cant remember a wine that got less enjoyable with each successive glass (that was not over the hill).
2007 Sineaan Pinot Noir Oregon
After the Lynmar, I wanted something, so I opened a 375 of this. Still young IMO. Ruby red in color, clear and bright. The nose has cherries and a very slight earthiness that needs bottle age to develop. Full bodied. On the palate, this is more complex than the 2006, while not as big. Lots of cherry flavors and some forest floor qualities. Nice finish. This should be cellared for a year or two, and this will be a great QPR Pinot.
