Slavic amari, from left to right:

Hahn - Lljubljana, Slovenia; floral and lightweight, easy and pleasant to drink, not very bitter

Maraska - Zagreb, Croatia; wormwood base; muted flavor, kinda non-descript really

Badel - Sarajevo, Bosnia; wormwood base; quite strong and bitter, heavy taste of caraway seed and coffee and bitter greens, tasty in small doses; the Badel website says, "Badel Pelinkovac Gorki is the most famous Croatian herbal liqueur. Its rich natural taste leaves no one indifferent...."

Zdravica - Podgorica, Montenegro; floral but ugh like lilies or gardenias or something, not very bitter and I can't wait to get this out of my glass

Gorki List - Belgrade, Serbia; fernet base; as the Badel but stronger yet, almost tastes like an extract it is so intense; not very likable

I will say that these all do get the gastric juices flowing.
