03 Dumien Serrette Cornas Patou

Terrific. I know - 03 - but they figured it out. Plum pits, gentle meat, lively fruit (yes), if I was guessing the pit note would have thrown me off but I would have guessed a neutral oak Hermitage or refined Cornas or even Steve Edmunds maybe 7-8 years old. A lot of presence, a big but non spoofed wine.

JLL recently released a pretty positive note about this wine which prompted the opening.

If anything, young. Probably ideal for me would have been several more years.

I don't think I've had 1 2003 Northern Rhone yet. Something about the vintage made me stay away from most Europeans that year (but can't say it has hurt Piedmont).
