NWR: Silence on World Cup?

Haven't seen any posts this year, in sharp contrast to the lively commentary last time. An edict from the politburo, lack of interest or am I just not looking in the right spot? I thoroughly enjoyed Mexico's upset of Germany this morning.

and yes, i did love switzerland stymieing brazil.

Somehow I did not.

What did you expect? Both teams have a major flaw in that they don't field current Munich players. Both have a former Munich player, but while Xherdan Shaqiri played for 90 minutes Douglas Costa stayed on the bench for the duration of the game. The outcome was inevitable.

I feel quite chuffed for El Tri, who certainly did enough to deserve the win. Germany has some issues to deal with, especially at midfield, and I do question the decision to sit Sane. Is Pep the only coach who he listens to?

The US is not in the World Cup and therefore the World Cup does not exist.
The World Cup is taking place in the new US seat of power but I disdain other of their politics as well.

It will be interesting to see if Germany revises their policy of pushing the defense forward so aggressively. It should have been 2-0, and could have been even worse.

He was picking his nose and ingesting the bounty instead of formulating a better strategy (sorry Georg; Brazil is in worse shape; another 7 x 1 might engender a coup d'état).

Haven't yet to see a match with the excitement (and forehead-smacking as I'm no fan of Ronaldo) of Spain-Portugal, although I did enjoy Brazil-Switzerland.

I'm pulling for the Vikings to advance, but am also missing Italy and the Netherlands. Perhaps more specifically I'm missing Buffon and Robben and several other folks in that category.

No tears for no Robben on my part. World's worst (i.e. most successful) diver. But it is weird to see no blue or orange.
