Interesting historical tidbits throughout this Napa Wine Project article (and not just about Edge Hill).

Edge Hill is one of the Napa’s Valley’s most historical and treasured winery properties.

Edge Hill Wines

Any opinions on the Edge Hill wines, especially the Bacigalupi Chardonnay?

I haven't heard of it, either, despite growing up in proximity to Napa and Sonoma during the "golden age" of California winemaking.

Okay, I couldn't resist pulling a bottle of the Edge Hill, The Celebrated Vineyards, Bacigalupi Vineyard, Russian River Valley, Sonoma County, Chardonnay '14. This historic winery was first established in 1867.

Medium yellow. Light fragrance, some nuttiness, floral nuances, very clean. Silky smooth, round and full, palate pleasing, fine fruit, all elements in perfect (?) balance, no edges, good length. Lovely...and special! [A] (Nathan, read: probably easily a [95] on my card).

Worked well with baked halibut, kale salad, snow peas...then two light cheeses and apple.

I served Edge Hill, The Celebrated Vineyards, Bacigalupi Vineyard, Russian River Valley, Sonoma County, Chardonnay '14 double blind to several wine experts. The guesses were Alsace, Macon, Rhone, and maybe a couple of others. No one pegged it as being from U.S.

Before revealing its identity, I asked for everyone's judgement of the wine and it was universally praised.

It really did show well as an aperitif wine with the hors d'oeuvres.

Another wonderful showing of Edge Hill. Fellow diners loved it...

[EDITED TO ADD] Sorry the system is rotating the photos. I even rotated them a different direction to try to fool the system but for some reason it displays them sideways every time.

Reading the history on the back label is interesting (if you can).
