The annual hootenanny for storage clients.

House Pours

Stephane Regnault NV Champagne BdB GC - skimpy fruit (or maybe just bone dry and a bit tannic?) but intellectually interesting, clean, crisp

Bernard Moreau 2016 Bourgogne Blanc - zingy but too oaky for me

Joseph Dorbon 2014 Arbois Blanc "Cuvee des Moyne" VV - 80 chard, 20 savagnin, made under voile but tastes just barely oxy, the savagnin citrus thing shows very strongly, good

Paolo Bea 2011 Umbria Rosso "Rosso de Veo" - yeah, it's sagrantino but it does not particularly scream it, '11 was a poor year and the wine shows bony

Punta Crena 2016 Rossese "Vigneto Isasco" - lightweight, good ripeness, a bit aggressive, puts off a lot of people but I think a plate of pasta pesto would fix this right up

Guy Breton 2016 Morgon VV - pretty!, mid-weight, acidity good enough, happy to drink

Harmand-Geoffroy 105 Gevery-Chambertin - smoky/matchsticky, somewhat muddled and indistinct, eh

Roagna 2013 Langhe Rosso - yup

Le Piane 2015 Boca - face powder and flowers but then it settles down to business: red fruit with a hint of orange oil, fine spreading tannins feel good

Client Carry-Ins

Massican 2016 "Annia" - 12.8%, mostly ribolla gialla, waxy, melon, herby but somewhat unpleasant

Dirty & Rowdy 2017 Chenin - waxy/wooly in the typique way, less mothball-y than the ribolla gialla, pedestrian though

Kelley Fox 2015 Maresh Vineyard "Red Barn Blocks" - transparent red, gentle tannins, beautiful strawberry palate with a hint of Pez and of orange pith, unfortunately its 13% but comes off very spirity

Jadot 2003 Gevrey-Chambertin "Clos Saint-Jacques" - cherry cough syrup (verging on shoe polish), kinda fat and slutty, others like this more than I do

Faurie 1992 Hermitage - so many pyrazine on opening that several of us start talking about Chinon, then there's a whiff of chlorine, and it keeps evolving very fast with air; a little while later it's big and earthy, blue fruited but still a family resemblance to Chinon

Belliviere 2016 Coteaux du Loir "Rouge-Gorge" - painfully young and showing very simple, do not broach for another year

Becheras 2014 Saint-Joseph - nice, very typique, crisp and clean

Bruno Dangin NV Cremant de Bourgogne "Cuvee Blanche" - disg. 3/26/18 lot #015, really good! zingy and spicy, nicely dosed, yum

Bruno Dangin NV Cremant de Bourgogne Rose - disg. 9/17/17 log #014, similar thing made with pinot noir, a bit musty (I think that's what the note says but could be "misty" or "rusty" or something else; it was getting late...)

Missed a bottle of Lauer riesling.

A final note: I channeled Yi Xin and mixed up a glass, half and half, of the skinny Kelley Fox with the fat Jadot. It did not really work: the scratchy Kelley Fox still jumped out of the glass at me while the gloomy Jadot attached itself determinedly to the bottom of the glass.
