Offers, offers

I trust that you are all rolling in Burgundy offers (last week), riesling offers (this week), but here are some lulus.

First up, from the Oh Really? Department, and I quote: "Our goal with CENSORED is to offer delicious, earlier drinking wines that offer exceptional value in estate grown Pinot Noir and Chardonnay. ... With case discounts and delivery this Spring, these wines offer amazing value for summer drinking!"

The aforementioned red marvel pinot is $49/btl, the chard $45/btl.

For that amount I can buy two Briords and have change made in paper money.
--

Second, from the Life is a Struggle For Everyone Department, we have a tasting note for a new cider: "Begins with honeyed floral notes, buttered popcorn, and campfire on the nose, followed by an evolving palate of dirty honey, fresh cut grass, smoked gouda and crème fraiche. Finishes with long and soft tannins."
--

Lastly, from the You Can't Go Home Again Department, I've just seen pricing for the new! and improved! Nervi Conterno Nervi-Conterno wines.

The basic bottling, which includes all the cru wine in 2015, runs approximately thus: 2013 $33, 2014 $37, 2015 $40. A little price creep, not too bad.

The cru bottlings: 2013 $60, 2014 $105 (on a deal, usually $120). Yikes. Hikes.

Well, consider that the last name probably adds a 100% tariff.

But 20% off with 2 cases or more, shipping included. To be fair, if you have to drink pinot noir and chardonnay, these aren't terrible value propositions, just not for me.

It'll be interesting to see how those prices work. Supposedly, in 2015 there are no Cru bottlings. I expect the 2016s to be ~$150, right?

Colombera and Gorella have crept up with the new release and we might see others. I'm following this closely.

I'm interested in trying the 2015 C-N though. Has anyone actually tasted it?

How much 'creep' are we talking here? These used to be 30-40 dollar wines.

i was offered 2015 Bramatera for $42 and the Lessona for $45. that's from a new york retailer. when the wines hit my market they may be a bit cheaper.
there's some 2006 Bramatera around at about $79. the label only has "Colombera Carlo" no Garella.under wax cap too.

We are talking about the same offer, I believe. They'll be significantly more expensive in my market and very rare, so I'll probably bite.

I guess not a ton of creep in dollar terms.

That wine is Colombera pre Cristano Garella. I am in for a few. If nothing else, it'll be of academic interest and could be great.

As noted in "Impressions", the 2012 Lessona and 2013 Bramaterra are both hitting a fabulous stride right now. Not sure what that means for the long term.

Yes, but these wines are from a small family winery that hand selects their grapes from the finest vineyards, are food-friendly, and will age splendidly, but taste great now. Where else can you find that?

The dirty honey brings them in every time.

It’s actually the Alesia Santa Cruz Mountains Pinot, which includes all of the production from Rhys’s new Mt. Pajaro vineyard along with some Alpine and Horseshoe, and Anderson Valley Chardonnay, which is declassified Bearwallow. Value is relative, but the wines are materially less expensive than the single vineyard wines, which went up in price in 2016, I have too much Rhys in the cellar and the Bearwallow Chardonnays are my least favorite, so I’m passing on the offer, but it isn’t absurd.

For more context I bought a three-pack of 2013 Lessona for $34 each from Crush in May 2017.

Nope, totally flying blind and under the assumption that 2015 is not a terrible vintage and that Cristiano Garella is still good at what he does, maybe even getting better. Have no idea.
