While waiting on the Monkey

2005 Huet Clos du Bourg 1ère trie, simply fantastic wine and ready to go now. Wonderful equilibrium, now a bit of acidity, now a bit of quince, followed by that charming sensation of the peacock's tail associated with grand cru Burgundy. To me is separated from the Le Mont by the tactile sense of mineral. I suppose tactile and palate don't go together -- but you get the idea.

2008 Diebolt-Vallois Fleur de Passion. Very good wine, but still a bit too young. Better as aperitif than as accompaniment. 2008 really does seem to be a great vintage.

2012 Dönnhoff Felsenberg Spätlese. Rounding into shape nicely. An improvement over a bottle opened a year ago. Ready to drink now with the caveat that the petrol aroma takes a while to subside, it that isn't your thing. A sleeker profile than might have been expected from initial tastings where some, perhaps too much, roundness was detected.

I forgot the entire reason for my post: One Disorderly (I forget whom) makes a point of saying to save your money and buy the 1ière trie and not Cuvée Constance. This was the first bottle that moved me closer believing.

I may have said that. But I’m not sure. I will say that ‘89 Constance was not the best sweet wine at the ‘89 tasting. And it wasn’t even really close for me. Maybe not even in my top 3 among the Moelleux. But it was probably also not the best bottle. I do love the ‘95 Constance.
