Jamet Cote Rotie '97

Jamet Cote Rotie '97 -- Impressive good color. Buoyant bouquet with lots of red fruit/etc, solid structure showing little or no effects from age, complex, abundant fruit and various other elements, pepper and spice, attractive rusticity, full and deep, and so much more. A rare treat! No hurry with this trophy. [E]

Lots of sediment so decanting is the right strategy.

Fine pairing with liver and onions, risotto, and sugar snap peas, then Gouda cheese, sliced pear, and almond/chocolate cookie.

That meal (sans dessert) and that pairing are right in my wheelhouse.
Love me some Jamet.

The 1991 Jamet was utterly brilliant and (for me) WOTN at a recent tasting that included 82 Chave Hermitage, 82 & 83 Jasmin and Gentaz C-Rs, and 91 Ogier C-R.

Christian,
While I can no longer afford it, Jamet was a significant part of my cellar for several decades. I remember cases of it sitting on the cellar floor, all long gone, to my ravenous taste for it and a sense that I’d never live this long.
No regrets.
Just an occasional sigh . . .
Best, Jim
