I expected this wine to be rather special; alas, it's a struggle to describe it.
Rene Rostaing Cote-Rotie La Landonne '03 -- Dark inky red, pungent bouquet that's tarry, rather harsh on palate, strong black fruits, could have more balance, large and rather one-dimensional, atypical Cote Rotie, okay now but not likely to improve over time. Victim of the hot vintage?!? [G - VG]
Served with turmeric chicken and rice and fried pepper rings, then pecan pie cookies.
