Hot dogs, potato salad wine match?

I like mustard with the hot dog and the potato salad, so yeah Riesling. But Runite (spelling?) on ice would temporarily wipe away about 40 years.

Tonight's ' 02 LHL Sec (from Woodlawn Hills) is bright and lively. No problems.

If we get this on YouTube maybe America will send us 500k to make up for being bullied by some fat guy.

    Singular wines

Two whites stand out for me: Jermann Vintage Tunina and Pepe Trebbiano. The Quinta do Crasto Maria Tesresa red blend is a possibility, unfortunately based on a small sample size.

    Which wine goes with...?

Certainly avoiding the phrase "begging the question" is probably the better part of valor, but a casual reading of the original post as: "LdH goes with ham, because the bottle I drank went with ham" is close to the classical use of the phrase.

A nice budget small scale audiophile stereo set up for those of you who want to jump in

Thanks Keith. I'll take a look. I probably have 30 SACD disks (Hyperion, Bis, Chandos classical releases). Most released 10 years ago. I've never invested in a quality SACD player so I really can't judge quality level against, say, RtR which for me was the high point of recorded sound. My DVD...

A nice budget small scale audiophile stereo set up for those of you who want to jump in

The market didn't support SACD or DVD-a, so finding what you want to listen to in 24 bit format will be a challenge (not to mention an expensive dedicated player to take advantage of the digital depth upgrade). Maybe someone will step up with reliable 24 bit flac downloads of popular releases...

    Pynchon

Vent on. The usual hipster wine whining does get a touch jejune at times. I read GR many years ago (25?) and sadly don't remember much other than some parts I'd just as soon forget. I went into the book cold and I was still clueless as to era, location, theme etc some 75 pages in, which was a...

    Lady Bugs in Burgundy (2004)

Why just '04? Don't those little buggers show up every year? I have quite a few '04s, but haven't tried many yet. Other than whites, which all seemed fine. Maybe I'm one of the lucky ones that aren't sensitive to the taste.

    Dissed by Pegau

I don't know if there is a language barrier (my French is rudimentary at best) but it sounds as if you found the '08 not to your liking and the salesman knowing the house style, concluded (rightfully?) that you would not enjoy any that he had on hand. I wouldn't call that dissing. I find Pégaü...

    Art music vinyl

For the most part the DGG LPs in my collection have held up well. Decent surfaces to begin with and not much wear with good handling. I haven't purchased much vinyl on the resell market, but I suspect that many used LPs are the vinyl equivalent of Katrina wines. Those more into collecting...

CWD: And now for something completely different...

In the same storm, but given the wind pattern the drift in my driveway tomorrow with be 3 to 4 feet deep. I'll need some steroid-pumped up Shiraz to get through the day.

    New turntable set up

I still listen to 2-3 vinyl recordings per week (mostly classical/mostly European pressings)on my Linn table. I listen to a lot of music and it is nice to give my ears a relaxing analog session from time to time. I'm a slow adapter for audio stuff: my first SACD player is showing up this...
