Thanks Cole, this was cool to see and I appreciate you mentioning here. Disorder and therapy helped me learn a ton about wine. I feel a debt to SFJoe and Callahan and this whole lot.
Lou was the best. I remember meeting him and BettyLu at offlines but then one time they surprised me when I worked briefly in the shop at North Berkerley in 2000. Came in, somehow knew to expect me there, were the nicest people and ever since I just had an extra good feeling about them both. Now...
I honestly have no input on Ian’s approach, and haven’t heard any rumors but disconew they were dumping lots of back vintages. Wonder what happened between the sale of the brand a few years back and now this.
Super late to this thread, but I love hearing people enjoying Portland.
VLM would love to connect if you make it out this way.
Lee no love for Flyong Fish oysters?
The Blanc is sold out!! More is coming though, and the '15 was picked earlier and shows affinity to Melon. Not surprising people used to confuse the two vines in CA and OR.
Mark, great to meet you. Thanks for your thoughtful tasting notes, I think you experienced the wines as I do. The Zenith...
Just messaged you. Stop by my place in NE Portland after you get in. I'm not free in the evening but happy to meet and open a few bottles at the table here at my house.
Curious what you mean Mike, was there an issue in the cellar, or bad corks? I haven't had as much CRB in recent years, since they got discovered by the newbies and the Gamay wasn't $7 anymore (I'm kidding!). But honestly I never experienced or haven't ever heard of an issue. Thoughts?
I think Kelley's making some of the best Oregon wines today. I'm constantly impressed by the delicacy in the wines. Nice to see her gaining lots of notice.
You really can't do this in NY. Either it's a hit and no one can ever get in, so the Disorder type would still wish NY had such a place. Or it fails for all the reasons described here.
NC sounds like a good place to do it. Or Oregon for that matter.
