DC Winos?

Unfortunately it looks like I can't make this one. Would have liked to attend, but am headed out of town on Saturday and have too much stuff to do on Friday night.

And not only do I miss a VLM appearance, I also miss the jeebus where six packs of La Tache will be handed out to everyone!

Next time..

Ah, my answer.

Next time.

Black Salt is too expensive and insufficiently red wine friendly, to say nothing of impossible to get into at such a late date. Frankly, there are next to no places to eat on that side of town - Black Salt is the only good restaurant over there. 8 is rather late for some of us - but I really can't think of anyplace that we could go that would be any closer to Reston. You are working until 7, really?

Anybody else got an idea of a byo-friendly place farther west than cleveland park?

It is even harder to park at petit plats than at lavandou or dino - I vote for either lavandou or dino - leaning towards lavandou.

Just lobbying for a place closer to me for ease of transport.

We really will be working until 7. Last night was 9:30.

I'm agnostic on Lavandou vs Dino.

lavandou is fine. I don't know of any place closer to Reston. BYO in Virginia is rare since it's not strictly legal. I am flexible as to start time. Perhaps the locals can convene at 7:30. Then we can wax enthusiastic to Nathan about how good the wines were when he arrives.

I'm going to pull out. I have to go interview dean candidates tomorrow morning starting at 7AM and I've decided to go on sleep and sobriety. Sorry guys.

I have to start at 7AM tomorrow myself, so I'm not buying it.

we can get into lavandou - do we want 8 pm or do we want to go a bit early and be half in the bag in order to give nathan a proper welcome when he arrives?

oh - and locals bring your own glasses. Georg, where will you be, we'll give you directions.

Nathan, don't stop and get wine - we all own tons and are happy to get bottles out of our cellars - and don't feel like waiting for you to shop! So if you don't stop, can you get to the restaurant earlier? We'd all prefer to start a bit earlier if possible.

Why don't you guys go ahead and start earlier and I will get there ASAP.

Thus far, we're on time and I might could sneak out early.

Lavandou it is.

Yeah but I'm older, slower and more boring than you.

I am in (unfortunately not my wife) and would also prefer to start on the earlier side. So are we then set for lavandou 7pm (what is in fact the actual time we are shooting for?)

we are now set for 7:30 at Lavandou - I can't really get there sooner than that either. I again remind locals to bring their own stemware.
