Okay, it's on.

Orange Sunshine is the west coast acid-influenced spin-off of Levi Dalton's Orange NYC tasting and dinner, featuring a garden variety of skin-contact white wines, popularly known as orange wines. (Lots more details here).

I vowed to post about this much earlier, but as it turned out most of the organiziation occurred via email. And after adding a few more via this thread, we are now full up.

The dinner will be this Thursday, 7/30 at 7:30pm, at La Ciccia, a Sardegnan restaurant in Noe Valley, San Francisco. We have reserved two tables of six. The owners will be offering a Mendocino sea urchin pasta special that night, but otherwise we are ordering from the menu.

The Wines
Paolo Bea 2006 "Santa Chiara" (Umbria)
Frank Cornelissen 2006 "MunJebel 3" (Sicily)
Cowan Cellars 2008 Sauvignon Blanc - Silver Pines Vyd (Sonoma Mountain)
Damijan 2003 Kaplja (Friuli)
Gravner 2001 Ribolla Gialla "Anfora" (Friuli)
La Stoppa 2004 "Ageno" (Emilia-Romagna)
Monasterio Suore Cistercensi 2007 "Coenobium Rusticum" (Lazio)
Movia 2005 "Lunar" (Slovenia)
Natural Process Alliance 2008 Chardonnay "Skin Fermented" (Sonoma Coast)

Man.

Man.

I wish I could be at this one too. Why must so much great Orange be so far away?

Anyway, I give a hearty Fare Thee Well and Cheers to those enjoying the SUNSHINE

Slaton sent this in an email so for those of you who didn't get this info:

>> Unless you're happy with having just one or two (restaurant) wine
>> glasses at a time, PLEASE BRING STEMWARE (6). I was planning on
>> dividing the wines into two or three flights (based on intensity of
>> skin contact/tannin), and for a group of 12 the pours will be at most
>> 2 ounces. So it's really in your best interest to bring 6 stems.

Oliver is confirmed. Scott is back in. Arjun is out.

Cory, based on our correspondence I took you off the list. I hope I got that right.

Paul, thank you for the interest. Unfortunately we only have 2 x 6 tables and we're at 12 people, so I had to put you on the waiting list. I put you ahead of vlm though.

The Dettori is looking unlikely (distributor issue), but the restaurant is offering '05 Zidarich Malvasia & '05 Zidarich Prulke (sauvignon, vitovska, malvasia). Both are quite expensive, although we do get our corkage reduced for bottles purchased.

I'm thinking it would be more prudent to just start with a brisk vermentino palate cleanser from the list and not buy any orange wines from the menu.

Scott "fickle" Kraft is out again. Paul is in, but hasn't confirmed yet. So there's a chance we have a seat available, again.

Who can resist the orange?

That's what I thought, too.

I may need to stop reading the jeebus board.
