Piemonte Abbondanza @ Wine Bottega, Thurs. Nov. 12, 6-8pm

As promised, here is the news flash about our next "abbondanza" style tasting (a full week in advance!). The Barbera tasting last month was a huge success, the wines showed great and there were some surprise favorites of the evening (Vercesi di Castellazzo-Cla`, Mascarello was just sick, '99 Braida, Bricco dell'Uccellone was amazing). We are following this up with a no holds barred Piemonte uncorking. We will be featuring a great line up of classics, Barbaresco and Barolo, as well as the more obscure stuff like (grignolino, Boca, Carema, etc.)for a total of 15+ wines. Some of the legendary producers will be featured such as Mascarello, Roagna, etc, as well as some of the rising stars (Cascina Roera, Le Piane, Tavijn etc). As with the last two open invites to all disorderlies, we are willing to waive the $10 fee. The secret password this time is "vespolina".

Hope to see some of you local Boston folk!

Matteo

Sounds good, I'm going to try and make it.

Thanks for the advance notice (although I see it is also posted in advance on your website).

Ha ha, yes, Kerri is much more on top of things than i am. I tried my best to get it posted with some advance notice. Also, Rahsaan and any one else planning on coming, please feel free to show up a bit early, around 5.30, if you would like to beat the crowd. The line up looks great. Ciao.

wish I could have made this but since I can't smell a thing today it would have probably been a waste. Next time.

Sorry to hear about the illness. My worst wine-drinking nightmare!

They opened some nice wines, although it certainly gets crowded there!

A special thanks to all those who made it out last night. The tasting was a big success and i was happy to see that some local disorderlies made it in. There were a lot of wines (19 total) and they were all showing really nicely. Highlghts included Ferrando sparkling erbaluce, 'tavijn Grignolino (brilliant), Cascina Roera Vigna Piva(personal favorite), and 1993 Roagna La Rocca e La Pira Ris. which was singing buy then end of the night. Thanks again for coming, and to those who missed, don't worry next month is the Tuscany Abbondanza!

Rahasaan: Thanks for stoping by on the earlier side. It was good to see you again. Also about the Poulsard, we do have maybe one or 2 bottles of that left in house, let me know if you want me to keep them on the side for you.

ciao ciao
