First, another thanks to all those who we able to make it to our Piemonte Abbondanza tasting last month, we hope you enjoyed the wines! We have but one more Abbondanza tasting left this year and its theme is Toscana. I realize that some of you may have given up on Tuscany, believing that all its wines are mere spoof at this point, but be rest assured that this tasting will feature some serious and truly artisianl productions. As with the last few big tastings of this nature, we are happy to extend an open invitation and would be equally happy to waive the 10 dollar entry fee to any disorderlies. Password is: aleatico. Also, if you can, feel free to come between the hours of 5-6 to beat the crowd.

Producers of serious interest: Canneto, Sanguineto, Pieve, Salicutti, Fontodi, Testamatta, Massa Vecchia, Le Boncie, Trinoro, etc...

see you there.

Yes, it was a bit stormy last night so the crowd was not a big as at our Piedmont extravaganza but the wines were all singing. Highlights of the night included the Testamatta Bugia Bianco from the island of Giglio (100% ansonica). Sanguineto Rosso (Prugnolo), Pieve Rosso and Brunello di Montalcino. These are sick wines. They are just what old school Tuscan wine should be and once was. Ditto for the 05 Le Boncie Chianti Classico. 03 Massa Vecchia La Querciola was one of the best bottles of Massa that ive ever had! Le Pergole Torte was a sleeper, tight as nails (as expected) but at the end of the night it woke up and began to show its true beauty.

In any case it was a lot of fun. Hope to see some of you next time.
