Camino, Monday, Mar. 22

The plan is now set and I've got a reservation. We'll be dining at 6 pm at Camino in Oakland. So far, here is who's said they're coming:

me
Jim Hanlon
Slaton
Arjun
Oliver McCrum
Ned Hoey and Katie

I'll need a ride to the restaurant, as will a few others, I think, so we'll need to coordinate rides at some point. And, of course, please let me know of any needed changes to our reservation.

I'm interested.

You might want to x-post to the main forum. I'm not sure how often folks check out the Jeebus section.

I will in due time, Larry. I just wanted to give this forum its due. After all, it's VLM approved!

No X-posting!

I'll fly to SF if I have to to get you to use the jeebus forum.

Bring thatVorpal thing, Monkey-man!

OK, now we're getting somewhere! So far, we've got me, B-day boy Luc (or was that Cory?), maybe Larry, VLM flying in with a vorpal something and Steve E brandishing something in return (a magnum of '95 Durrell? Who knows?) Keep it comin', folks.

Mark, I have that exact wine (same bottle size, too). However, I have no intention of opening that any time soon.

Not gonna speak for Steve, but since we're all close, personal friends on this forum... (emoticon-signment here)

Oh, I wasn't thinking he'd open it, just brandish it as a bludgeon when confronting VLM. I find that magnums are the ideal size for weapons: double magnums are too unwieldy and 750s just don't have enough wallop. YMMV of course.

p.s. I chose that wine because Steve, generous soul that he is, recently offered one up as part of a Haiti benefit raffle Dale Williams organized on WLDG.

I believe we're civilized folks here. We should at least let VLM drink and eat with us. After he's full and satiated, break out the magnum for its intended task.

My purchase was a mag that Steve donated to the Rhone Rangers silent auction in SF three years ago.

Holy shit. That place is still around?

I'm sure that they'd break out the Welcome Wagon for you. Only a handful of the old guard left there, though.

Yes.

I'll bring some '99 Texier Hermitage and an Elvish sword of great antiquity.

Cool. I'll have to dredge up some old D&D stuff to pawn off on y'all while we pass the time. So, you up for drinks, dinner, both or neither, Slaton? In certain senses, it might make sense to finish up at Terroir since it's within stumbling distance of my hotel, but Steve's got a plane to catch the next day so can only make early engagements...

SFJoe: Mr. Dressner will at Terroir a week from this Monday (2/22) -- wrong month.

All of the above, natch.

Great!

So let's begin to formulate an actual plan. Should we begin at Terroir or go to dinner first? Has anyone got a suggestion for a restaurant not too far away that would be a good site?
