Do you really expect more than 3 top level players?

I think that Djourou will be given a chance. I know for sure that Wenger rates him and we all know what that means.

I also think it is time for a new keeper. A really serious bad-ass keeper. I know that Wenger doesn't believe in spending money on keepers and thinks that a good enough one can be had for cheap (he was right with Lehman).

Something to think about. Now that Campbell has come back, does that open the door for a Flamini return? In a 4-2-3-1 that gives us a midfield of:

Song-Flamini
Nasri-Fabregas-Arshavin

That is a midfield with a ton of potential.

I've always liked Daniel Agger and feel like he would work better for us than for Rafa. That's a start.

Yes, most def leaving Inter. I would be more than surprised if they were able to hold him for another season. There's no doubt the man can win games and is a tactical wizard. Question is is whether or not Real will be a good fit (actually more so Perez than Real).

At this point, Mourhino has so much cach, maybe more than any player. Real will have to pay to get him and then probably pay him 20 million a year, more than any other player will make in salary.

That sort of thing works in the NBA and I think it will work with Real.

I've bought into the Mourihno thing whole hog this year.

Mourihno develops a system that is structured and disciplined and puts a few players in a position to win games for him (I have a long philosophical ramble in me on this one, because this is essentially the opposite of Arsenal, where the team is turned into a machine and the individual somewhat sublimated).

He has the leadership ability (can anyone question that now) to get accomplished players to buy into his system (Eto'o tracking back like Rooney).

I also thinks he puts players into a position to really show at their best and within a zone where they feel in control and comfortable.

He brings the best out of his leaders on the pitch.

He's not afraid to give up on players like Ibra.

Stop reading the British press. They don't have to change that dramatically. The left footed player balancing the squad has been an obsession/excuse for about a decade.

But what they are saying is that he is the lone holding midfielder. Does this make any sense?
They are also hinting at what you've said months ago - that Capello may be going with the Roma formation, or something close to that with Rooney.

It depends on the squad and it depends on how you define defensive midfielder. I'd call Barry more of a holding midfielder in the Xabi Alonso mold rather than a defensive midfielder in the Makalele mold.

Why wouldn't you experiment with a Roma-like formation? That takes advantage of the strength of England, it's midfield. One thing that England has that no other country has, not even Spain, is Gerrard and Lampard. Can you think of another country with a pair of goal-scoring midfielders like that?

If I'm English, I want Rooney and Lampard to be able to attack as they see fit.

I was really impressed with Adam Johnson at City this year. He does look world class at times and doesn't make a mockery of those Real Madrid rumors from last summer.

So what's the take on Cesc? Gone or staying?

I think he's staying, but is that even worth it? Should Wenger just sell him for 70 MM?
