Jeebus in NY April 13

Jonathan Loesberg

Jonathan Loesberg
As I said in a thread in which SF Joe said I had to come to NY to try his 89 Cotat, I will be available for a Jeebus on Friday, April 13. The reason I will be there is that a Victorianist organization is holding its annual conference there. And this means that Carolyn Betensky will be in attendance as well and would also be interested in a jeebus on that night. And since Carolyn will be there, there is a good chance that, if there were a jeebus, and if everybody wrote pleading emails saying how much they would love his attendance, Robert might come along. So does this work for people?

No surprise, really. Folks only come over here to talk about that strange Euro-foot-ball sport (which is meaningless twaddle to normal people).

You mean Euro/Asian/African/Australasian/Latin American sport, right?

Friday nights are, of course, difficult.

NYC options include:

Grand Sichuan - no problem
Peking Duck House- no problem
Il Corso - we can try, they might charge corkage for a Friday night
Joe's place if he wants to host.
other?

Many more Jersey City options if attendees are willing to step on the PATH:

Soul Flavors (www.soulflavors.com) - a long standing jeebus favorite
Sati's Bistro (www.satisbistro.com) - BYO with good food and glassware
My place if locals are willing to do a little pot lucking. I'd be happy to do some cooking.
Thirty Acres - The brand new restaurant opening on 4/6 by the old chef from Momofuku Noodle Bar which will be BYO until a liquor license is obtained. I hope to try it out shortly after opening.

I haven't had Peking duck in a while. The JC sites are all good, too. (I'm feeling a little depleted after the rather spendy jeebus yesterday.)

I think we stand at 6 definite and 3 maybe?

Joe?
Carolyn?
Robert?

Satis would limit us to 2 hours on a Friday night. Soul Flavors would be more flexible. My apartment would be very flexible.

Peking Duck would limit our wine choices a bit but is otherwise good.

Jonathon - when do you think you'll know about Carolyn and Robert? Once you do I'll make a reservation at Soul Flavors to be on the safe side. We can always cancel it.

Does 7pm work for everyone?

Carolyn will be coming. It's hard to get Robert to decide because of health issues. But I'll ask her again. At some point, and maybe by email, you need to give us directions from the PATH train to the restaurant.

Email is hard from work, I'm liking the soft keyboard less as time goes by.

Directions from PATH:

Take either PATH train to the Grove St. station.

Walk north two blocks on Grove St. You will pass a Dunkin Donuts on your right at the corner of Grove and Newark. Continue walking to Bay St. (you will pass Grand Sichuan and Sava's Polish Deli). Soul Flavors is on the far right hand corner. That's also known as the NE corner.

app. a 2 minute walk from the train.
