Seattle Jeebus April 28th

Old and new Beaujolais, and whatever else anyone likes.
Besides the 1999 Foillard Cote du Py, I also have some early 90s Cornas begging to be opened.

We will host at our house in Ballard, but are certainly open to other ideas.
If playoff hockey happens to coincide, we do have a fairly large flatscreen, but it is not of much interest to me personally.

Now on for the 28th.

BJ + Mlle L
Brian C
Marc + MJ (tentative)

I'm assuming Friday, Saturday, or Sunday to try and include the Bellingham folks.
So that would be April 20/21/22 or 27/28/29, but other dates would work for us too.

Answer back with availability and interest and i'll update this master post.

BTW, i'm travelling tomorrow and Monday, so may be a little delayed in following up.

Don't plan around me as my availability is dodgy this time of year but the first weekend is out for me. Second is a possibility. I have both interesting Beaujolais and old N rhone to contribute and am generally down with either theme.

Sounds great to me and the Mme; Sundays are probably not great. Heavy lobby from us for the B'ham gang...we miss you! And where the heck did Lee go?

Depending on how good your fried chicken is, you might end up at Brad Kane's apartment. Be ready.
Well, not that i've looked that hard, but haven't really found any good fried chicken around anyway. The Coterie Room was passable I guess. Have not been interested enough to seek out Ezells yet.

Was thinking more about leveraging the grill, or maybe the oven. Especially if we can get Lee and Melissa involved. Those guys seem to have the Seattle area provisioners down cold.

Next weekend was always going to be too soon. From what i've read above, I've updated the thread title, lets focus on the 28th unless we need to move it out another week or so to get everyone included.

This sounds like a great plan. I am probably available on the 28th, with Melissa likely as well. I'm sure I can think of some vittles to bring even if I seem to have let the cassoulet season pass me by.

Grew me a great crop of flageolets last year, nice cassoulet bean. Ill try to remember to bring you some if I can make it. Gonna see how the authentic ones do in our climate this year.

What's up with all the Bellingham coyness? I mean, what's it gonna take?
You get me a reliable weather forecast for the next 2 weeks, and I'll give you a commitment to be able to get away from workin'...
Don't worry, '99 Foillard and good company is all the incentive I need. I can probably make it happen.

Hey Lee!
Cassoulet season here doesn't end till after July 4th, but you know that.

The oysters are still really good and I'm thinking of stopping at Taylors to pick up a bag or two on the way down. I just got several interesting Muscadet from CSW that I'm itching to open.

Brad, I'm in a similar boat as Brian. Two of my co workers took April off to travel, and I'm stuck working extra. MJ has been working a bunch too.
I'll see if I can get her to commit to the 28th.

My Rhonish wines only go back to '98 so I'd have to violate the rule of 15 to contribute.
/smile

No pressure peeps, just miss our northern pals.

And I see we've flushed out Lee and Melissa, that's good.

We're around pretty much every weekend.
So let us know if pushing to 5/5 or 5/12 (or any other day) makes it more certain for folks.

BTW, had dinner at Eva last night. James wanted to know when we are bringing everybody back for a big event again - including the guys who knew all the Gilbert and Sullivan...

having watched the chelski performance in the 1st leg in portugal, i can't say i was surpsised.

and the funniest thing is that once you cut through the possesion stats and the noise, the worst miss of the night was kalou's.

i suspect that barca will need to score at least 3 to win this. that may be a tall order.

I found the match, particularly the first half, thrilling. You can't beat Barca at their own game, as we well know, so you have to do something different. There was a beauty to this match in the big blue banks of four surging forward on the break, trampling little Spaniards underfoot. Using power and asking for a moment of inspiration to come. It reminded me of the beauty of the counter-attacking football Inter played to win the UCL. Strategy perfectly matched to an opponent.

Barca were unlucky not to get at least one. There were times in the first half where it seemed like the laws of physics were just different for Messi and Iniesta. Space seemed to warp around them and Messi looked to have his own gravitational force exuding on the ball. How does he manage that close control?

I would still put things at 50-50 or maybe 60-40 Barca. Can't wait.

it was fun, wasn't it?

also, here's hoping that rvp has been paying attention to the development of cesc and nasri.
